Gary and Kellie,
I put together a few options to give you a sense of coverage and cost. The right fit depends on your goals, so we’ll tailor this together.
Please watch this short video first:
🔎 Your quotes
Due to New York regulations, only a limited number of insurers offer long-term care insurance in the state. Securian SecureCare and Nationwide Together, which you requested, are not available, but two comparable options are: Nationwide CareMatters (individual policies) and Brighthouse SmartCare.
Each quote is based on $5,000/month in initial benefits and a single-pay structure to allow for an apples-to-apples comparison. All of these options can also be structured with alternative payment schedules. For example, Option A could be paid at approximately $480/month to age 100.
🧐 My notes
I chose these options to highlight key tradeoffs:
- A vs B: 5% growth costs more but produces significantly higher benefits over time than 3%.
- A vs C: Extending benefits from 4 to 6 years increases total coverage with a modest cost increase.
- B vs D: Coverage on Kellie costs slightly more than Gary due to longer life expectancy.
- D vs E: Brighthouse is lower cost, but limited to 4 years of benefits at 5% growth.
We can fine-tune these based on your priorities.
