Kathy and Todd,
Your long-term care insurance quotes are ready.
First, please watch this short video I made for you:
🔎 Your quotes
I've provided quotes with the same initial benefit to make an apples-to-apples comparison.
🧐 My notes
These choices use the same starting monthly benefit but take different approaches to benefit length, sharing, payment method, and benefits for heirs.
Option A: This traditional policy has the lowest premium and provides three years of benefits for each person. It reimburses eligible care expenses, offers no benefit to heirs if care is not needed, and its premium can increase after five years.
Option B: This hybrid policy changes the structure to a six-year shared pool that either person can use. It pays benefits in cash and includes a death benefit for heirs if care is not needed.
Option C: This hybrid policy has the highest premium and provides lifetime benefits with an unlimited total long-term care benefit. It pays 75% cash indemnity for the first two years, then reimburses eligible care expenses, and includes a death benefit for heirs.
Compare these benefits with projected care costs and the personal savings or other income you would want to use toward care.
You can also adjust the benefit amount to fit your budget. For example, reducing the premium by 25% would generally reduce the benefits proportionally.
