Ann,
Below is a new long-term care insurance option for you.
First, please watch this short video I made for you:
🔎 Your quotes
I've provided a new option, EquiTrust Bridge, and compared it with your original Securian SecureCare IV policy. My notes are below.
🧐 My notes
The EquiTrust quote assumes you qualify for the highest underwriting class. This generally means you can answer “no” to the health questions below and successfully complete a roughly 30-minute video evaluation. During the evaluation, you'll be asked some memory questions and may be asked to perform basic physical tasks, such as a balance check.

Based on the comparison, EquiTrust offers strong benefits. At age 80, your total available LTC benefits are roughly comparable to Securian's, while your death benefit may be higher depending on how the policy's accumulation value performs.
The main trade-offs are:
- Your LTC benefits vest over five years. During the first four years, benefits are vested at 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%. Beginning in year five, roughly age 67, you are fully vested and eligible for 100% of the LTC benefit. Your death benefit is not subject to this vesting schedule.
- Your LTC benefit grows at a guaranteed 3% annually, but that growth stops after 20 years, roughly age 82, or when you begin an LTC claim.
- You choose how your policy value grows. That value generally becomes your death benefit.
- Fixed account, currently crediting 5%. The rate can change annually.
- Index account, with interest credits tied to the performance of an index such as the S&P 500, subject to the policy's caps and participation rates.
- For the comparison table, I assumed the fixed account continues to credit 5% annually. That is only an illustration, not a guaranteed long-term rate.
👉🏻 Next steps
Reply to my email or text with feedback or schedule time on my calendar to review this new option together.
If you'd like to move forward with EquiTrust, just let me know:
- How you plan to fund the policy ($50k in year 1 and $12.5k in years 2-5)
- Whether you prefer the fixed account or index account for the policy's accumulation value and potential death benefit growth
Thanks,
Jesse
