Revised LTCi Quotes for Janet

Janet,

Your revised long-term care insurance quotes are ready. I wanted to share these with you prior to our call on Tuesday so you have time to review the options and notes ahead of our conversation.

Please watch this short video first:

πŸ” Revised quotes

I've provided a few quotes with initial benefits of $5,500/month for an apples-to-apples comparison. I included options with varying benefit lengths, along with the policies you requested from Mutual of Omaha, New York Life (an AARP sponsor), and OneAmerica, which offers lifetime benefits.

Should you shop around? You canβ€”but your quotes will be the same everywhere. Long-term care insurance prices are set by the insurance companies, not by brokers. We offer all the top policies and help you find the best fit.

🧐 My notes

All of these are strong options, each with different strengths depending on what matters most to you. You mentioned wanting to explore longer-duration policies that pay benefits in cash, so I included several options and alternatives for comparison.

  • Option A: Mutual of Omaha is your least expensive option. Benefits are paid as reimbursement, and the policy does not include a refund upon your passing.
  • Option B: Nationwide offers the same 3 years of benefits, but benefits are paid in cash and the policy includes a refund payable to your husband or any heir.
  • Option C: New York Life, an AARP-sponsored policy, also offers 3 years of benefits and includes a slightly higher refund. However, benefits are paid as reimbursement, the premium is higher, and there is no payment option extending to age 100.
  • Option D: This is the same Nationwide policy as Option B, but with 6 years of benefits instead of 3.
  • Option E: OneAmerica Asset Care is the only policy currently available that offers lifetime benefits. The cost is somewhat higher, and benefits are paid as reimbursement.

My thoughts: Based on our initial conversation, Options D or E may be the strongest fit if the premiums are within your comfort range.

If you'd like to adjust your annual benefits, we can also adjust the premium proportionally. For example, increasing or decreasing the premium by 25% would generally increase or decrease the benefits by a similar amount.
