Jodi,
Thanks for speaking with me today. Your revised long-term care (LTC) insurance quotes are ready based on your feedback. 👍🏻
🔁 Revised quotes
I've provided three quotes all with $225/month premiums for your lifetime, 3 year benefit period, and 3% annual benefit growth to help your benefits keep pace with rising LTC costs. Payments over 10 years aren't competitive.
🧐 My notes
All three policies include lifetime premiums—you pay each year for life, but payments stop once you begin receiving care. While insurers technically can raise annual premiums in the future, it’s considered highly unlikely. These policies are conservatively priced, and carriers rely on decades of data to keep premiums stable.
Based on your quotes, I’d go with either choice B or choice C.
- Choice B (Thrivent) – Competitive with NGL, but from a company that’s financially rock-solid with a Christian mission. They’ve been offering long-term care insurance since 1987. Their last premium increase was in 2004. Read our review.
- Choice C (NGL) – Offers the highest benefits, though the company is rated slightly lower financially and is newer to LTCi (first offering policies in 2016). They’ve had no premium increases. Read our review.
Assisted-living in Pennsylvania is projected to cost $167,000/year by age 80 (assuming 4% annual growth). Your options provide lower annual benefits than this projection, but you can bridge the gap using personal savings and Social Security. The goal for most people is meaningful coverage, not paying every dollar. If you'd like higher annual benefits, you can increase your premium—your benefits will rise proportionally (e.g., by 25%).
👉🏻 Next steps
Once you've reviewed your options, just reply to my email or text with the one that feels closest—A, B, or C and I'll email the policy documents to you (no commitment).
