Vince and Lat,
Good news. Your revised long-term care (LTC) insurance quotes are ready.
š Revised quotes
Iāve provided three quotes with the same costā$10,000 per year for 10 years (we can adjust this up or down)ābut with increasing benefit durations. As you move from left to right, the annual benefits go down while the total maximum benefits go up. Each option includes 3% annual compound growth to help your coverage keep pace with rising long-term care costs. The last row shows alternative ways to pay for the same benefits. For example, with Option A, you could choose a one-time payment of $83,000 each instead of annual premiums (big total savings).
š§ My notes
Iāve included three of the most popular policies on the market. Each one offers a refund to your spouse or children if you never need careāOptions A and B even refund more than you paid. Both Nationwide and Securian offer cash indemnity benefits, giving you complete flexibility in how you use your coverage. You can read reviews of all these policies here.
At the core, this is a decision about how long you want to insure yourself against the rising cost of long-term care. While the average need for care is around 3 years, it can stretch to 8 years or more with Alzheimerās or other memory-related conditions. In Illinois, assisted living is projected to cost about $187,000 per year by age 80 (assuming 4% annual inflation). These policies cover between $102,000 and $133,000 per yearāleaving a gap, but one that can often be bridged with Social Security or personal savings.
Personally, my wife and I just applied for the lifetime OneAmerica policy, but all three policies are a great choice.
šš» Next steps
Once you've reviewed your options, just reply to my email or text with the one that feels closestāA, B, or C and I'll email the policy documents to you (no commitment).
