Revised LTCi Quotes for Drew and Chris D

On this page

Drew and Chris,

Good news. Your revised long-term care (LTC) insurance quotes are ready.

🔁 Revised quotes

Below are three strong quotes. To compare on an apples-to-apples basis, I used the following assumptions:

  • Joint policies with six years of shared benefits
  • Premiums paid over ten years, guaranteed not to increase
  • Starting benefits of $54k per year ($4.5k/month, $150/day) growing at 3% annually

💡
Should you shop around? You can—but your quotes will be the same everywhere. Long-term care insurance prices are set by the insurance companies, not by brokers. We offer all the top policies and help you find the best fit. Want to adjust your coverage? We can raise or lower the premium—your benefits will scale accordingly.

🧐 My notes

After reviewing multiple options, I think these three policies offer the strongest combination of shared benefits, value for premium, and long-term premium guarantees. These joint options provide better value than two individual options.

  • Option A (Thrivent Standalone). To qualify for membership and purchase this insurance, applicants need to select one of the following on the application: (1) I am a Christian seeking to live out my faith, or (2) I am the spouse of a Christian seeking to live out his or her faith. Read my review.
  • Option B (Nationwide CareMatters Together). This policy offers flexible cash benefits with no receipts required and a refund if care is never needed, but the refund is paid after both of you pass away (which we discussed). Read my review.
  • Option C (NGL Essential LTC). This policy provides each of you two years of benefits plus a shared pool of two additional years. It is slightly less flexible than the others because one person cannot use all six years. The policy will have minor updates on December 5 that we can review if you are interested. Read my review.

For the analysis, I chose a starting annual benefit level of $54k. Assisted living in Pennsylvania averages about $73k per year. These policy options provide lower annual benefits than that projection, and you can bridge the difference with personal savings and Social Security. Most people aim for meaningful coverage rather than covering every dollar.

If you prefer higher annual benefits, you can increase your premium and your benefits will rise proportionally.

👉🏻 Next steps

All policies depend on underwriting, so the next step is completing a longer health pre-screen (10 minutes) for each of you to confirm which options you qualify for. I’ll share your answers anonymously with insurers to get informal feedback before any formal application. This helps us identify which policy is the best fit and avoids the risk of a formal decline. Start your pre-screens here.

Once I receive the feedback, we can schedule a call to review your best options together. 👍🏻
